During the prestigious Society for Risk Analysis (SRA) Annual Conference held in Athens, the paper titled “Cultivating Resilience: Sustainable Strategies in Western Balkan Higher Education Institutions for Climate Action” was presented by Elona Pojani and Perseta Grabova, bringing forward an important discussion on how universities in the Western Balkans can strengthen their role in addressing climate change.
The presentation explored the current state of climate education and sustainable development integration in higher education institutions across the region, emphasizing gaps, opportunities, and the urgent need for stronger climate literacy and green skills among students.
Within this context, the Pro-facts “Promoting knowledge on EU policy in fiscal administration, climate, and energy topics” Project was presented as an example of capacity building in Albania. Its contributions in developing academic modules on EU climate and energy policies, organizing open lectures and expert events, and promoting sustainability practices within the Faculty of Economics were appreciated.
The participation in SRA Athens strengthened the visibility of Albanian initiatives on an international stage and encouraged further cooperation toward climate-resilient education systems in the Western Balkans.
