The Jean Monnet Module PRO-FACTS at the University of Tirana announces the publication of a new Policy Paper, dedicated to the integration of climate policies and the EU agenda into Albania’s energy and financial systems. This document reflects the commitment of PRO-FACTS to support national institutions in translating European climate objectives into real progress for the country.
Prepared by professors and experts from the Faculty of Economics, the Policy Paper summarizes the discussions and conclusions of two major roundtables held with institutional stakeholders, financial actors, and representatives from academia and the private sector. It provides an analytical overview of Albania’s efforts to shift toward renewable energy, advance climate budgeting, strengthen financial resilience, and improve interinstitutional cooperation in line with EU standards.
The publication also highlights the challenges Albania continues to face, including data gaps, limited technical capacities, and the need for greater public and business awareness. The recommendations aim to guide policymakers in building a more coordinated and long-term strategy for climate and energy transition, while ensuring sustainable development and economic competitiveness.
The Policy Paper is available in both English and Albanian, ensuring accessibility for national and international partners. It stands as a key result of the PRO-FACTS project, reinforcing the role of academia in policymaking and supporting Albania’s EU integration journey through knowledge, collaboration, and forward-looking action.
