Guest Lecturer: Gledis Gjipali
Title of the Open Lecture: EU Institutions and Climate Migration Policies
The JusticeForClimate project on 29 of April held its first open lecture, featuring Gledis Gjipali, a well-known expert on EU integration and policy.
Titled “EU Institutions and Climate Migration Policies,” the session brought together students from the Faculty of Economics for an engaging and timely discussion on how the European Union is responding to the growing connection between climate change and human mobility.
Mr. Gjipali offered insights into how EU institutions shape migration and climate-related policies, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for countries like Albania. Participants explored the legal and institutional landscape at the European level and reflected on what these developments mean in the context of Albania’s EU integration journey.
The lecture encouraged open dialogue and critical thinking, with students actively contributing to the discussion by raising thoughtful questions and sharing perspectives on justice, governance, and climate-related displacement.
This open lecture is part of a broader initiative by JusticeForClimate to enrich the academic experience by connecting students with real-world debates and policy discussions.
More open lectures are on the way—featuring expert voices from Albania and beyond—diving into key topics like disaster risk management, migration, and the EU’s role in advancing human rights in a changing climate.
