In the framework of Jean Monnet module a specialized Lecture on the topic: “Climate and Energy Sector Developments in Albania and EU” was organized by project team.
The lecture was organized at the Faculty of Economics, UT, premises on January 27th 2023; and it was attended by the students of Master of Science in Risk Management (MSRM), and Master of science in Finance. The lecturer was conducted by Ms. Mirela Kamberi, Team Leader, National Project Coordinator Albania, UNDP.
The lecture offered a thorough presentation of historic key documents and events in addressing Climate Change, with an update on world statistics and Albania. In addition, a presentation of “The Fourth National Communication on Albania on Climate Change” was offered, gaining attention from the participants. Special focus was also put on deforestation trends and the importance of lowering GHG emissions from transportation and construction, in Albania.
The second half discussed the action behind energy initiatives. UNDP supports several new startups in photovoltaic developments, in partnership with Albanian Government and other donators. The focus was on the impact that climate change will have on Albania’s electricity supply, for it will affect precipitation and on the need for alternative energy production to secure sustainability of supply.
