We are happy to announce the successful completion of the first teaching module delivered under the JusticeForClimate project – “Improving Knowledge for Climate Justice and Human Rights in Albania”, supported by the Jean Monnet Actions of the Erasmus+ Programme.
The course “Climate Change Adaptation in the EU and Albania” was offered during the first semester of the academic year 2024–2025 to students in the second year of the Master of Science in Risk Management program.
The course was designed to:
- Explore the complex relationship between climate change and human mobility;
- Examine social, demographic, political, economic, environmental, and climatic factors influencing displacement and migration;
- Address distinctions between migrants and refugees, and between forced and voluntary migration;
- Emphasize equity, climate justice, and human rights as fundamental elements in climate-related policy development;
- Highlight the economic dimensions of climate-induced mobility across the EU, Western Balkans, and Albania.
In addition to lectures and case studies, the module featured debate sessions that allowed students to critically engage with diverse perspectives on climate-induced migration and the EU’s policy approaches. This activity is the beginning of an academic journey toward building informed, climate-conscious professionals and advancing the discourse on climate justice and human rights in Albania.
